Protecting Soil & Water in Monmouth & Middlesex Counties
The first of New Jersey’s 13 Soil Conservation Districts, the Freehold Soil Conservation District protects natural resources through erosion control, stormwater protection, and environmental education. We help ensure that land development and construction activities meet the standards of New Jersey’s Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Act, while supporting conservation efforts that improve soil health and protect local waterways.

Supporting Responsible Development and Conservation
Freehold Soil Conservation District serves as the local authority responsible for the certification and enforcement of Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plans for qualifying land disturbances in Monmouth and Middlesex Counties.

If your project involves land disturbance, you may need a certified Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan. Our office reviews plans, certifies them for compliance, and schedules inspections during construction.
